Updated models receive all new hardware platform plus upgrade capability to support NAS in addition to iSCSI. New models for 2013 include a 12-bay 2U rackmount, as well as appliances optimized for 2.5″ enterprise SSD and high-speed SAS drives.
Hayward, Calif. – May 16, 2013 — StoneFly, Inc., a leading supplier of integrated IP storage area network (SAN) systems and a wholly-owned subsidiary of Dynamic Network Factory, Inc. (DNF), today unleashed the ninth generation of its ISC “Integrated Storage Concentrator” IP SAN appliance series. Featuring an all new hardware platform implementing single or dual hexa-core storage virtualization engines and up to 32GB of data packet and command queuing cache for SSPP®, performance of the StoneFly ISC is unmatched at its price point. Well established in the iSCSI market, the StoneFly ISC 6GS-Class storage appliances now also offer optional NAS volume support including CIFS and NFS protocols.
First released in March 2006, the easy-to-use StoneFly ISC product family offers a cost-effective IP SAN for small offices, remote sites, branch offices and first-time IP SAN deployments. With RAID protection, redundant components, and Gigabit or 10 Gigabit network connectivity the ISC 6GS-Class series of IP SANs offer an ideal platform for applications ranging from storage consolidation, virtual server storage, disaster recovery, disk-based backups and more.
“Over the last eight years, StoneFly has continuously invested in the ISC making it the extremely solid storage appliance that it is today” said Mo Tahmasebi, president and CEO for StoneFly. “Our engineers work diligently to constantly strengthen both the hardware and software features of this dynamic product.”
Previously consisting of four storage appliance models and two expansion units, the family count of the latest iteration of the ISC 6GS-Class IP SAN storage appliances explodes to seven appliances and four expansion units with five new models. New members include 12-bay 2U rackmount IP SAN appliances and expansion units, and three models optimized for 2.5″ enterprise SSD and high-speed 10,000RPM SAS hard drives.
The ISC 6GS-Class family of IP SAN products offer large storage capacities at a low price and are now available in 6Gb SATA, SAS or SSD combinations of 4, 6, 8, 12, 16, 18, 24, or 36 drives per base unit. Additionally, ISC 6GS-Class IP SAN appliances with 12 or more bays offer the industry’s most cost-effective expansion via 12-bay, 16-bay or 24-bay expansion units for up to 108 drives per appliance.
The award-winning StoneFusion® Intelligent Network Storage Platform, StoneFly’s patented storage networking architecture, simplifies storage implementation and management by using storage virtualization.
IP SANs add storage and advanced storage services to the IP network, giving administrators powerful features without using Fibre Channel or other complex technologies. With StoneFly’s iSCSI SAN appliances, administrators can increase storage utilization, consolidate storage resources, provision storage, control access to storage, and manage volumes. Advanced storage features include synchronous mirrors, replication, and snapshots. Enterprise-class upgrade options include hardware-enabled block level AES 256 volume encryption, NAS volumes supporting CIFS and NFS protocols, and thin provisioning with space reclamation.
