Automated Air-Gapped Backups

Air-gapped backups is a built-in feature in the DR365U appliance, it is a security measure that physically or logically separates the backup data from the primary network, meaning that the backup data is completely isolated from the network and internet access. The goal is to protect the backup data from being tampered with or compromised by malware or ransomware that may have infiltrated the primary network.

This feature is important because it provides an additional layer of security for your data, ensuring that in case of a ransomware attack or other security breaches, your backups will remain intact and usable for recovery.

Policy-Based Immutable Backups

Immutable backups is a built-in feature in the DR365U appliance, it is a security measure that makes sure that the backup data cannot be altered or deleted, making it a read-only copy. The goal is to protect the backup data from being tampered with or compromised by malware or ransomware that may have infiltrated the primary network, human error or even malicious intent.

This feature is important because it provides an additional layer of security for your data, ensuring that in case of a ransomware attack or other security breaches, your backups will remain intact and usable for recovery.

The advantage of having immutable backups is that it ensures that the backups are always a true and accurate copy of the data and can be used for recovery without the risk of being compromised.

Integrated Appliance Scalability: Scale Up & Scale Out

DR365U™ - Universal Backup and Disaster Recovery Appliance

The DR365U integrated appliances are dually scalable: they can scale up to petabytes of storage capacity and scale out to virtually unlimited number of appliance nodes.

  • To scale up their integrated appliances, users can add expansion units.
  • To scale out their integrated appliances, users can add appliance nodes.

Expansion Units (EBODs – Expandable Bunch of Drives) are available in 12 to 108-bay form factors with support for 7200RPM, 10k, and 15k enterprise SAS and flash drives (SSDs).

Each DR365U integrated appliance is capable of supporting a maximum of 256 drives with expansion units.

Dual Node Shared Nothing Backup and Disaster Recovery Solution

The dual node shared nothing hardware configuration is built for businesses looking for high availability and business continuity.

This hardware configuration comprises of two clustered (mirrored) integrated appliances. The iSCSI volumes and storage in both integrated appliances are synchronized. The clustered integrated appliances create a highly fault-tolerant and hardware redundant backup and DR system that delivers uninterrupted access to backup data even in the event of complete hardware failure of an appliance.

The two DR365U appliance nodes can be set up on the same premises or even in different locations.

Dual Node Shared Nothing Backup and DR System Scalability

DR365U™ - Universal Backup and Disaster Recovery Appliance

The dual clustered DR365U appliances are highly scalable. Each appliance can store up to 500 terabytes of data when fully populated. With expansion units, the DR365U appliance nodes can store up to 4 petabytes of data and a total of 256 drives.

Similar to the integrated appliances, the dual node shared nothing system is also dually scalable: it can scale up (scale vertically) and scale out (scale horizontally).

  • To scale up, users can add expansion units or EBODs.
  • To scale out, users can add appliance nodes.

Supported EBODs range from 12 to 108 bay with support for 7200RPM, 10k, and 15k enterprise SAS and 12Gb SSDs.

DR365U Scale Out Backup and Disaster Recovery Solution

Start with three appliance nodes and scale out to virtually unlimited number of appliance nodes with petabytes of storage capacity and proportional performance capabilities.

The total workload is aggregated over the 3x processing capabilities of the scale out DR365U system. This delivers a high speed and quick read and write experience.

For organizations processing large volumes of sensitive data, such as banks, hospitals, law enforcement agencies, the scale out backup and DR system is the best fit to protect their mission-critical big data.

Besides being able to store petabytes of backup data, the scale out DR365U also has built-in cloud connect. Users can choose to store backup copies or store backup data in the cloud for long term storage by building a hybrid backup solution.
