10Gb Support Enables StoneFly IP SANs to Achieve More Than Double the Performance of Conventional Fibre Channel SANs
San Diego – Nov. 14, 2006 –StoneFly™, Inc., a leading supplier of integrated IP storage area network (SAN) systems and a wholly-owned subsidiary of Dynamic Network Factory, Inc. (DNF), today announced full 10Gb support across its entire IP SAN product line to give enterprise users the capacity and power to implement higher performance, higher bandwidth IP SANs.
StoneFly became the first company to offer 10Gb support in a brand name IP SAN with the September 2006 introduction of the High Availability Storage Concentrator (HSC), a robust IP SAN featuring the industry’s highest levels of redundancy for maximum data protection. Today’s announcement expands that support to StoneFly’s cost-effective, easy-to-deploy Integrated Storage Concentrators (ISC) and Modular Storage Concentrators (MSC).
“Today’s announcement is not only indicative of the emphasis we place on advancing our IP SAN product lines to incorporate next-generation technology, but it also demonstrates our commitment to ensuring that our customers get the most value out of their IP SAN investments,” said Mo Tahmasebi, CEO of DNF. “With 10Gb, organizations can now achieve more than double the performance of conventional fibre channel SANS, while also gaining additional bandwidth for each host application.”
StoneFly’s 10Gb-powered IP SANs deliver additional network capacity to potentially support hundreds of hosts and increase host-level performance with 10Gb SAN uplinks. The faster 10Gb network interface also makes it possible for organizations to utilize iSCSI-based SANs for transactional applications.
StoneFly has tested and certified 10Gb Ethernet switches from at least one key supplier, Fujitsu, and it has also tested and certified iSCSI software initiators for Microsoft Windows, Linux and Solaris environments. In addition, the company’s current 5.0 release of its StoneFusion Intelligent Network Platform supports 10Gb Network Interface Cards.
Pricing starts at $17,000 for entry-level systems featuring 10Gb support. All StoneFly IP SAN configurations include an integrated StoneFly Storage Concentrator engine and storage; block-level virtualization; Stonefly clustering; and StoneFusion 5.0, which offers comprehensive storage services such as centralized storage management, storage consolidation, access control, volume management, IP SAN provisioning and built-in reporting. Advanced storage management functions, such as synchronous mirroring and campus mirroring, are available through StoneFly Reflection and StoneFly Snapshot, offered as standard, built-in features of all StoneFly IP SANs.
