iSCSI pioneer StoneFly develops UES-HA encryption gateway that allows businesses to easily convert their existing storage into unified iSCSI storage with hardware-enabled volume encryption.
Hayward, Calif. – March 29, 2013 — StoneFly, Inc., a leading supplier of integrated IP storage area network (SAN) systems and a wholly-owned subsidiary of Dynamic Network Factory, Inc. (DNF), today began shipping the extraordinary UES-HA™ Cluster “Unified Encrypted Storage” High-Availability IP SAN Encryption Gateway Appliance.
The StoneFly UES-HA IP SAN Encryption Gateway Appliance allows businesses to easily convert their existing Fibre Channel, SAS, or iSCSI storage (EMC, NetApp, Dell, etc.) into unified iSCSI storage with hardware-enabled volume encryption. Once storage volumes have been provisioned by the UES-HA appliance, they can enjoy StoneFly’s numerous advanced data storage management features.
UES-HA Encryption Gateway is an ideal solution to consolidate all of your server and storage systems into one easy to manage, fully redundant, highly available modular appliance. Use of virtualized operating systems allows for complete hardware utilization and considerable reduction in power/cooling costs. UES-HA flexibility replaces the “fixed hardware model” of the past with on-demand resource allocation (such as CPU, memory, storage, etc.) based on your application needs. UES-HA comes with a Virtual IP SAN Cluster (SCVM™) and the ability to create additional virtual storage or virtual servers as needed.
StoneFly’s UES-HA allows you to assign or provision all or part of your existing EMC, NetApp or Dell storage through your existing or preferred available iSCSI, FC or SAS interface. From this storage pool you can create new volumes for all of your hosts. These new volumes are now part of StoneFly storage and can be encrypted, mirrored, replicated, data deduplicated, thin provisioned, and more.
“What were once simple volumes are now managed volumes, and hosts can now enjoy the new volumes through StoneFly’s iSCSI technology and enjoy all of its features” said Mo Tahmasebi, president and CEO for StoneFly. Additional Windows, Linux, and StoneFly SCVM Virtual Machines that are VMware compatible can easily be installed on the UES-HA Encryption Gateway Cluster Appliance to further reduce hardware costs and datacenter overhead.
The StoneFly UES-HA supports a wide range of virtual server environments including VMware, Citrix XenServer, and Microsoft Hyper-V.
Featuring StoneFly SCVM™ 7.0 64-bit Storage Concentrator Virtual Machine guest operating system on each cluster node, the UES-HA is the first product to come standard with built-in hardware-enabled block level AES 256 volume encryption. Primed to support StoneFly’s latest storage technology, the UES-HA comes with dual hexa-core storage virtualization engines and up to 512GB of data packet and command queuing cache per cluster node, mirrored OS drives with battery backup, plus redundant 80-PLUS® certified hot-swappable power supply modules, and a minimum of four gigabit iSCSI connections per cluster.
The UES-HA is available in three base models: space-saving dual 1U, low-profile dual 2U, and full-height dual 3U Storage Concentrators. Each supports a variety of 1Gb and 10Gb (RJ-45/CX4 Copper, SFP+, SR/LR Optical) iSCSI connections per cluster, as well as 3Gb/6Gb SAS and 4Gb/8Gb Fibre Channel connections for provisioning your existing storage systems.
At the backbone of the UES-HA design is StoneFly’s patented storage virtualization engine with dedicated iSCSI cache and the StoneFly StoneFusion™ storage management operating system. StoneFusion provides block-level provisioning with hardware-enabled AES 256 block level volume encryption as well as centralized storage management and advanced storage features including asynchronous replication, campus mirroring, 2520 snapshots per subsystem, thin provisioning with space reclamation, NAS (support for NFS and CIFS protocols), and optimized data deduplication.
